Scott Jolly's 23-year coaching career included positions
at the college and high school levels. He began as one of
the youngest head college coaches in the nation as a 28-year-old
at Union College in Kentucky and capped off his coaching
career with a 12-year run as a head high school coach in
Dallas, amassing a glittering 311-91 record. Remarkably,
Mr. Jolly's teams played in the title game in 10 of
his 12 years as a high school coach, combining for three
State Championships, three State Finalist finishes, two
SPC Championships, and two SPC Runner-up finishes. In the
summer of 2005, the Global Games Select team (United States
under-19 team) chose him to serve as Associate Head Coach
for the prestigious Global Games, the preeminent international
basketball competition held in the United States for under-21
year olds.
Recognized as one of the premier high school basketball
coaches in Texas, Mr. Jolly most recently served for six
years as St. Mark's Head Basketball Coach, compiling
a 158-45 record overall. For the six years prior to that,
success was the byword as his teams combined for a 153-46
record at Jesuit. Also, all six Jesuit teams ranked among
the Top 25 in the Texas Hoops 4A/Others Public and Private
Schools Poll, as well as at least #3 in the Texas Private
Schools Poll. In his years at Jesuit, Mr. Jolly built a
reputation for developing players to their fullest potential
as 15 of his 48 senior basketball players went on to play
at the college level.
In addition, Mr. Jolly played with the NBA's 2nd leading
all-time scorer Karl Malone and coached current Memphis
Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins at St. Mark's.
Jenkins attended camps for several years as well.
Mr. Jolly has been involved in the administration of various
camps for 39 years, helping to create outstanding experiences
for over 19,500 campers. Under his direction, basketball
camps at St. Mark's increased from about 70 campers
prior to Mr. Jolly's arrival to almost 700 attendees.
Camps at Jesuit grew to 650 campers each summer. While Head
Basketball Coach at Union College, Mr. Jolly directed camps
that expanded from 70 campers in his first year to more
than 500 campers just three years later, and at Mayde Creek
High School in Katy ISD, he founded the Camp of Champs,
which grew to 415 participants in three years.
Mr. Jolly serves as St. Mark's Senior Director of Leadership Gifts
working with major gift donors. Scott and his wife
Karlene have been married 36 years and have three children.
